LEARN TO PAINT WITH ACRYLICS LEVEL 1 - 6 WEEK COURSE

Wednesdays, January 18 - 
9 am - 12 pm

Acrylic paints are a versatile and fun introduction to paint mediums. This class is for absolute beginners and will cover many basics including brushes, surfaces, planning a composition, styles of art, mixing color and detecting values. As a self-taught painter, Julie Read encourages her students to learn through practice, indulge their impulses, laugh through the ugly efforts and gradually pick up techniques as they apply to assignments.

LEARN TO PAINT WITH ACRYLICS LEVEL 2 - 6 WEEK COURSE

Wednesdays, March 22 through April 26
9 am - 12 pm

This class series is great for people who feel comfortable with acrylic paints, brushes, color mixing, value, composition, preparing canvases and finishing paintings. Julie will provide challenging assignments focusing on painting from life, fine details, and unique applications. As a self-taught painter, Julie guides her students to learn through practice, indulge their impulses, laugh through their efforts and hone techniques through assignments. Julie’s Level 1 course recommended as prerequisite.

CREATURES IN ACRYLICS WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 2-4
10am - 3pm

Designed for beginners but fun for everyone, this weekend intensive will explore creatures of all types!  All materials are included in this workshop, and students will leave with a foundation for starting a home painting practice, and tons of tips on rendering true-to-life paintings of animals.

DRAWING AND PAINTING PEOPLE WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Saturday, Sunday & Monday, February 18 - 20 
10 am - 3 pm

Tackle the most intimidating subject - people! This class is suitable for ambitious beginners, and fun for anyone. Learn figure drawing basics, fun ways to explore charcoal and pencil, and finally work with Acrylic paint to capture color, texture, form and a likeness!

LANDSCAPES IN ACRYLICS WORKSHOP

Sunday, Monday & Tuesday, April 16 - 18 
10 am - 3 pm

Geared toward absolute beginners, this workshop introduces paints, brushes, priming and finishing canvases. It’s also suitable and fun for any practiced painter wanting to hone their techniques. Plan, sketch and compose a landscape painting, learn how to use brushes to create realistic, organic marks, mix the colors of nature in all their subtlety and brilliance, capture light, water and shadows! This workshop will be held indoors and we will work from photographs. Bring in inspiring pictures you'd like to paint and an apron. All artist-grade paints, brushes, canvases, pencils, paper, etc will be provided.

PAINT & PIZZA IN THE GALLERY!

Monthly 6:00 - 9:00pm

“Paint & Pizza” sessions are a fun introduction to painting – in a gallery setting! Designed for absolute beginners, but enjoyable for anyone, these have a casual night on the town vibe, with pizza, beer, wine, cookies, and music.  Julie gives step-by-step instruction from start to finish, encouraging each artist to find their own voice. No two paintings will be the same!
